Last time, we discussed the humorous idea of dental implants for dogs. If you missed it, you’ll need to go back and give it a read to figure out whether they exist or not. This week, Dr. Seth Larson is blogging from Prescott Valley, AZ to invite you all to join a great community event this weekend, the Wild West Mud Fest.
The Boy & Girls Club of Central Arizona is hosting the 2nd Annual Wild West Mud Fest on September 19, 2015 at the Prescott Valley Entertainment District. This event is one of the first ever mud/obstacle runs that’ll take place no matter the weather in an urban downtown environment. The course is a creatively designed 5k where you’ll have to go past a variety of obstacles like mud pits, walls, cargo nets, pools of water, tunnels, slides, and a lot more.
All of the profits will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona. The Boys and Girls club is an amazing program that helps keep our youth involved in wholesome programs that are fun, engaging, and educational.
The Boys and Girls Club has proven its success in central Arizona since 2000. The Boys and Girls Club youth has higher graduation rates and is a great positive aspect in the community.
The Wild West Mud Fest is a great community event that will help strengthen our community.
To register for this fun 5k visit www.wildwestmudfest.com/register/. If you’d like to register the day of the event, you can look for a tent that says “registration.” However, it will be first come first served, so try not to procrastinate on this event.
Parking is FREE and offered all throughout the Prescott Valley Entertainment District. There will also be a bag check available on-site, where you can leave your bag in return for a check claim # wristband.
All 5k finishers will receive individual awards at the finish line. There will also be an opportunity to win a $600 cash prize.
If you’re injured or don’t feel like participating in the event, spectating is free and encouraged.
Did you know that some cultures eat mud for fun? Eating dirt, also called geophagia is common amongst cultures that are suffering from famine. It’s thought they consume mud for the minerals. Not to mention, it will make you feel full when you’re hungry.
With that being said, if you attend the mud run this week, try and keep the mud out of your mouth. Consuming mud can lead to gastrointestinal problems like abdominal pain, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea.
Not to mention, if the mud if contaminated, you can run the risk of getting an infection since dirt is full of bacteria. This is why you always wash your root vegetables to rid them of bacteria.
Bacteria are also bad for your dental health and gums. So, try and brush and floss when you get home. Chances are the mud won’t affect you though with the exception of making the course harder for you.
